Bugs Construction

For the record, this was hard. I think his head is a bit big and his right hand too, please crit me folks! :D Below are my two drawings (not a trickster like some might believe), the first is the construction and the second is my detail, i should probably break them down into at least 3 drawings from now on. Live and learn...

Learning more construction

Another exercise from John.

Study study study.

So check it out, the first is the main composition idea and the next is the seconardy forms, mind you i lost my marbles a bit and started adding some tertiary forms.. but that's okay, i'm still learning!

Oswald Study

John posted a whole bunch of really awesome cartoon cover art about a week ago and i just had to try my hand at copying one to the best of my ability.

This took me ages to do, i'm still gonna tighten it up with a black pencil or maybe i'll even ink it, but before i do i need to get some crit.

I really think my biggest problem in this drawing is oswald's head and face, its the wrong angle and when i put it next the orignal it looks waaay too happy faced, no much shock happening.

Jerry Study!

I love Tom and Jerry.

Therefore, i thought its high time i start putting my new Preston knowledge to use and breakdown some of my favourite cartoon characters!

So here's Jerry so far,

Right now i think the relationship between the muzzle and cheeks is the most important thing to practise with him, especially since they're so squishy it can be easy to mess it up!

Preston Blair Lesson 5

Here's my lesson 5.

This was the hardest so far.

On the last two i will admit to some lightboxing ( cheating ). Although i didn't rely on it completely, i used it to see what was going on because i find lines become very abstract after a while and its difficult to eyeball scale and shape!

All i can say is try messing with the angles and perhaps break this up into segments and perfect those if you have the time. I also tried using the box and including an angled centre line in CG. It kinda helps.
